  15. MODIFYING THE ENVIRONMENT:
  16. --------------------------

  18. The 'PHONE CADDY' application program may require more intensive disk
  19. utilization than other programs you are currently using. DOS permits
  20. you to alter the environment to facilitate this intensive disk
  21. utilization.
  22.  
  23. It is recommended that you create a CONFIG.SYS file (if the file is
  24. not there already) which contains the following two statementes.
  25.  
  26.        FILES=20
  27.        BUFFERS=8
  28.  
  29. DOS looks for the CONFIG.SYS file each time the computer is turned on
  30. (or "re-booted").  When the file is found, the operating system alters
  31. the environment corresponding to the contents of the file.

  35. INSTALLING 'PHONE CADDY' ON SYSTEMS WITH A HARD DISK DRIVE:
  36. --------------------------------------------------------

  38. The diskette that your copy of 'PHONE CADDY' was distributed to you on
  39. should not be used for running of 'PHONE CADDY'. You should first make
  40. a back-up copy of the distribution disk and then install 'PHONE CADDY'
  41. on either your hard disk or floppy disk system.
  42.  
  43. We recommended that you create a sub-directory that will contain the
  44. 'PHONE CADDY' program and distribution master files. The following DOS
  45. commands will create a sub-directory called 'PCMENU':
  46.  
  47.        C>CD\
  48.        C>MD\PCMENU
  49.  
  50. Once you have created the sub-directory, select the new sub-directory
  51. by entering:
  52.  
  53.        C>CD\PCMENU
  54.  
  55. Insert the 'PHONE CADDY' distribution disk into drive 'A'.
  56.  
  57. Next, copy the contents of your distribution disk on to your hard disk
  58. by execuiting the following command:
  59.  
  60.       C>COPY A:*.* C:
  61.  
  62. Remove your 'PHONE CADDY' distribution disk from drive 'A'.
  63.  
  64. Reboot your system in order to load the new values in your CONFIG.SYS
  65. file.

  67. Make your 'PHONE CADDY' sub-directory your current directory:

  69.          C>CD\PCMENU
  70.  
  71. Load 'PHONE CADDY' in order to initialize your data files.

  75. Upon completion of your system initialization you will be returned
  76. to your system prompt. Reload 'PHONE CADDY' in order to start using it.

  91. In order to run 'PHONE CADDY' on a floppy disk system you will need two
  92. disk drives. One drive to contain your program disk and the other to
  93. contain your data files. ** NOTE - THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SPACE FOR BOTH
  94. THE 'PHONE CADDY' PROGRAM AND YOUR DATA FILES ON THE SAME FLOPPY DISK. *

  96. Insert the 'PHONE CADDY' distribution disk in drive 'A' and select the 'A'
  97. drive by entering "A:" (return).
  98.  
  99. Insert a blank FORMATED DISK into drive 'B'. This is the disk that your
  100. working copy of 'PHONE CADDY' will be copied to.
  101.  
  102. Enter the following command:
  103.  
  104.        A>COPY A:*.EXE B:
  105.  
  106. Upon completion of this copy operation remove your disk from drive 'A'
  107. and replace with the new program disk in drive 'B'.
  108. Load a new diskette for data files into drive 'B'.
  109.  
  110. Reboot your system then execute PCMENU.EXE in order to initialize your
  111. system.

  113. Load 'PHONE CADDY' in order to initialize your data files.

  117. Upon completion of your system initialization you will be returned
  118. to your system prompt. Reload 'PHONE CADDY' in order to start using it.

  137. EVER  EXCEED THE PRICE PAID FOR THE LICENSE TO USE  THE
  138. SOFTWARE,  REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF CLAIM. THE  PERSON
  139. USING THE SOFTWARE BEARS ALL RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND
  140. PERFORMANCE  OF THE SOFTWARE. Some states do not  allow
  141. the   exclusion   of  the  limit   of   liability   for
  142. consequential  or  incidental  damages,  so  the  above
  143. limitation may not apply to you.

  145. This  agreement  shall be governed by the laws  of  the
  146. State of Texas and shall inure to the benefit of  MICRO
  147. DATA  ASSIST and any successors, administrators,  heirs
  148. and assigns. Any action or proceeding brought by either
  149. party  against the other arising out of or  related  to
  150. this  agreement  shall be brought only in  a  STATE  or
  151. FEDERAL  COURT  of competent  jurisdiction  located  in
  152. Collin County, Texas. The parties hereby consent to  in
  153. personam jurisdiction of said courts.

  155. This  is  copyrighted software. You are  not  obtaining
  156. title to the software or any copyright rights. You  may
  157. not   sub-license,   rent,   lease,   convey,   modify,
  158. translate,  convert  to another  programming  language,
  159. decompile,  or dissemble the software for any  purpose.
  160. You  may  make as many copies of this software  as  you
  161. need for back up purposes. You may use this software on
  162. more than one computer, provided there is no chance  it
  163. will be used simultaneously on more than one  computer.
